VR KRISHNA IYER

VR KRISHNA IYER: (15 November 1914-4 December 2014)

Vaidyanathapura Rama Krishna Iyer, popularly known as Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer, is a former judge in the Supreme Court of India. He was born at Vaidyanathapuram near Palakkad, in Malabar region of Kerala in a Tamil Brahmin family, but grew up at Koilandy,Kozhikkode District.

JAWAHARLAL NEHRU

Jawaharlal Nehru : (14 November 1889 – 27 May 1964) was the first Prime Minister of India and a central figure in Indian politics for much of the 20th century. He emerged as the paramount leader of the Indian Independence Movement under the tutelage of Mahatma Gandhi and ruled India from its establishment as an independent nation in 1947 until his death in office in 1964. Nehru is considered to be the architect of the modern Indian nation-state; a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic.

VAYALAR RAMAVARMA:

Vayalar Ramavarma (28 March 1928 – 27 October 1975),  known as Vayalar, was a Malayalam poet and lyricist. His famous works include Sargasangeetham, Mulankaadu, Padamudrakal, Aayisha, Oru Judas janikkunnu.

Com. CH Kanaran was born in Azhiyoor in Kozhikode district in 1909. His father Sri. Ananthan was a small merchant and his mother was Cheekolikarayi Narayani. Soon after his matriculation from Thalassery BEMP High school in 1929, C.H Kanaran started taking part in the freedom movement.

U SRINIVAS

Uppalapu Srinivas (28 February 1969 – 19 September 2014) was an Indian mandolin player of the Carnatic musical tradition of Southern India. Srinivas plays an electric mandolin and has collaborated with John McLaughlin, Michael Nyman, and Michael Brook. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1998 and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2010.

UR ANANTHAMURTHY: ( 21.12.1932-22.08.2014)

 Udupi Rajagopalacharya Ananthamurthy is a contemporary writer and critic in the Kannada language and is considered as one of the pioneers of the Navya movement. He is well known among Indian authors^. He is the sixth person among eight recipients of the Jnanpith Award for the Kannada language, the highest literary honour conferred in India. In 1998, he received the Padma Bhushan award from the Government of India. He was the Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University in Kerala during the late 1980s. He was one of the finalists of Man Booker International Prize for the year 2013

R. Umanath is a communist politician from Tamil Nadu, India, and a Politburo member of Communist Party of India (Marxist) from 1998.

Veteran Communist leader and former member of the CPI(M)'s Polit Bureau R. Umanath died in a hospital in Tiruchi on Wednesday. He was 92 and is survived by his daughters U. Vasuki, who is also the CPI(M) state secretariat member and U. Nirmala Rani.

Com.E K Nayanar was born on 9 December 1919 in Kalliasseri. Despite his father, Govindan Nambiar, being a believer in the feudalism, Nayanar took to the national movement of the time at a very young age under the influence of his cousin, K.P.R. Gopalan. Nayanar was influenced by the events following the admission of a Dalit girl to local school under the leadership of K.P.R. Gopalan.

Tipu Sultan :(20 November 1750  – 4 May 1799), also known as the Tiger of Mysore and Tippoo Sahib was a ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore and a scholar, soldier and poet. Tipu was the eldest son of Sultan Hyder Ali of Mysore and his wife Fatima Fakhr-un-Nisa. Tipu introduced a number of administrative innovations during his rule, including the introduction of a new coinage, a new Mauludi lunisolar calendar, and a new land revenue system, initiating the growth of Mysore silk industry. Tipu expanded the iron-cased Mysorean rockets which he deployed in his resistance against military advances of the British.
